UPDATED: JAN. 29, 2010
M1-Grand Prix (M1GP) - Southern California's leading road racing motorcycle association for 50cc minis to 549cc supermotos with youth and adult racers, will continue with its unique ROAD WARRIOR racing class.
WHAT IS THE ROAD WARRIOR CLASS?
ANY BIKE. ANY MAKE. ANY MOD.*
Although M1GP offers racing classes for youth riders (including the FREE Terminator racing class for beginner youths), the ROAD WARRIOR is for experienced riders as it combines dirt-bike chassis bikes (Supermoto) with GP chassis bikes in the same racing class. Although this may not be unique in club level racing, M1GP's ROAD WARRIOR class in unique in that it allows for any make, any model, any mod (modification). So if you have an old Sears mini bike with a lawn mower motor, a GROUP W racer, dual sport, or a factory MotoGP bike and want to just have some good racing, the ROAD WARRIOR class is for you.
A CALL TO MANUFACTURERS and DEALERS.
For 2010, a call to all manufacturers is being made to participate in M1GP ROAD WARRIOR series to expose riders to the root of all motorcycle racing - the grass-roots, club level racing and with smaller cc motorcycles, where riders can learn their skills in the safest and best environment to learn to ride - on a controlled course (race track). M1GP is encouraging manufactures and dealerships to get involved with new riders and youth riders, and is an opportunity to showcase the manufacturer's products in a fun and competitive, and safe way.
A CALL TO ALL RACERS
BRING IT. RACE IT. NOW, YOU'RE OUT OF EXCUSES.
If you have an odd motorcycle that just never fit in any race class, and swore if there was just a class for you, you'd be the best thing on two wheels, 2010 is your time and M1GP is the racing association for you.
ROAD WARRIOR Racers will be put in to two groups based on their lap-times (recorded with transponders). Racers with larger machines may find that the smaller race craft will have the advantage on the very technical circuits M1GP holds its races at (Grange Motor Circuit and Willow Springs Kart Track). Though this is one of the goals of the RW class - to expose riders to smaller cc motorcycles for sport and improving skills.
Riders shouldn't discount size of the bikes or the tracks. World-class champion racers, both honed their skills with little risk on smaller bikes and still take advantage of these very tracks. In fact, the Hayden brothers and Max Biagi can be found frequenting these tracks for practice. Nicky Hayden holds the lap record (at Grange Motor Circuit).

* Any bike between 50cc and 549cc motard. All bikes must be track prepped and pass tech inspection.
** Any mod (performance) - aftermarket or custom which is designed with the purpose of improving the bikes performance for the purpose of RACING. This means, neon lighting kits, sound systems and saddlebags are not considered a performance mod.
*** ROAD WARRIORs ARE FOREWARNED. The nature of this class is to pit any make and type of bike with against an a bike and rider who is turning a similar lap-time. This is to encourage tight racing. However, the riding style and lines take by various bikes and riders can vary greatly, which can increase the risk of a mishap (eg., the lines of a GP roadracing bike entering a corner can be very different from that of a Motard bike). Those entering the Road Warrior class are expected to understand this BEFORE registering! All Road Warrior class racers will be required to sign an additional waiver acknowledging this.
The purpose of the Road Warrior class is to allow racers, or future racers to experience competition on the track and to discover a world that otherwise they might not be a part of.
